A Day at the Pumpkin Patch
Today was the perfect Fall day. It was a beautiful sunny day with a slight chill in the air. Just perfect for a visit to the pumpkin patch.
I headed out early to a local farm that transforms into an Autumn wonderland in October. Fields of orange gourdsĀ bustling with families eager to find the perfect pumpkin. I too was in search of the perfect pumpkin. Actually, ten perfect pumpkins. I needed 6 pumpkins to make the pumpkin topiaries to flank my front door and I found them. I also needed four carving pumpkins to line my porch steps. Those were easily found, as well. However, I couldn’t stop there. I also picked up several small gourds to make a dining table centerpiece andĀ cornstalks for my porch columns.
After loading my purchases into the truck I wandered around the farm enjoying all the festivities. Children were getting their faces painted and others were bobbing for apples. Older kids were making their way through the corn maze. I enjoyed a slice of pumpkin bread with apple cider before hopping on the horse-drawn hayride.
After several hours I left for home, ready to create my own Autumn wonderland.
